YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–"Trial of 31" defendant Mauel Yeghiazarian–commander of the "Arapo" battalion–was released from prison on Saturday–February 21. His pardon was a direct order from Acting President and Prime Minister Robert Kocharian.
Yeghiazarian was being held under charges of withholding information regarding the overthrow of the government and illegal possession of firearms. He was arrested on July 29–1995–and was to be imprisoned for five years.
