Mher Sahakyan, a member of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation and lawmaker representing the opposition Armenia bloc, died during a car crash on Sunday, authorities reported.
The emergency services were alerted to a vehicle plunging into a gorge on the Yerevan-Meghri highway at 4:41 p.m. Emergency crews rushed to the scene.
The ARF Supreme Council of Armenia issued a condolence, calling Sahakyan a “principled and dedicated patriot who has always been at the forefront of the defense of our Homeland, and in the trenches of political efforts to strengthen Armenia’s statehood.”
Sahakyan was a member of the Yerevan regional council of the ARF.
Similarly, the Armenia parliamentary faction also issued a condolence announcement, saying “We have lost a principled and dedicated citizen and colleague.”
