YEREVAN (Yerkir)–The Armenian Revolutionary Federation Executive Council of Armenia issued a statement on the second anniversary of events surrounding the September 1996 elections. The statement condemned the methods applied by Levon Ter-Petrosyan’s government and called on the current government to learn from past mistakes and develop closer ties with the people of Armenia.
"The September 1996 events were the climax of Levon Ter-Petrosyan’s undemocratic regime," the statement read.
The statement stressed that the establishment of democratic ideologies is necessary for the development of a politically–financially and ideologically sound government that works for the people.
