YEREVAN (RFE/RL)—A senior Armenian Revolutionary Federation official said Turkey’s preconditions for normalizing relations with Armenia have increased pressure on Yerevan to make concessions in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, RFE/RL’s Armenian Service reported.
The ARF Bureau political director Giro Manoyan told RFE/RL that Washington and other mediators are pressing parties to agree on the principles of a Karabakh settlement before an October 14 soccer match in Turkey that Ankara hopes Armenian President Serzh Sarkisian will attend.
“Their haste is, in effect, related to Turkey’s precondition that it will not sign a [normalization] agreement with Armenia until there is progress on the Nagorno-Karabakh issue,” Manoyan said.
He said such haste endangers Armenian interests regarding Karabakh “because it does not stem from the logic of the conflict’s resolution.”
The Armenian Revolutionary Federation strongly opposes the resolution framework drafted by American, French, and Russian mediators. The party has also criticized Yerevan’s rapprochement with Turkey, which was initiated by Sarkisian.
Armenia will never learne. The only way that our country will be safe is by ellecting ARF.
Even at this point Mr Sarkisian can get rid of his advisers and surround himself with Dashnags.
GOD BLESS ARMENIA
Hi Antranik; that’s what I have been saying more than 10 years now. The ARF is the answer for the safety of our sovereignty and for Artsakh. The major powers are not going to rest until Armenia fully kneels to Turkey, and how can we do that without endangering all our rights and our cause for survival as well as Artsakh’s. What they want is simply for Armenia to accept Turkey’s stolen lands from Armenia; to do away with Armenia’s internal affairs in the form of our Declaration of Independence and the US, Russia and France in this way are acting completely undemocratically. How does the United States want Iran to meddle with the Declaration of Independence of the United States? And the same of course goes to Russia and France. All three, by meddleing with Armenia’s Constitutional Rules to have Armenia go against it; the major powers are acting belligerently, unruly and un-democratically. They should go and mind their darn business and live Armenia to be ruled by their DECLARATION OF INDEPENDECE.
What USA, Russia and France are trying to do is a very un-democratic and unruly acts and against international laws. How would USA wants Iran or Germany to come and meddle and act against with US’s Constitutional Court’s orders and against their Declaration of Independence? They won’t allow it; then they should stop meddling and asking Armenia to go against their Constitutional Court’s order. The very same goes to Russia and France. They must stop meddling in Armenia’s internal affairs. It is un-democratic and unruly.
And yes, Armenia will be safer under the A.R.F.’s ruling the country.
