YEREVAN (RFE/RL)–In an interview in Nezavisimaya gazeta Tuesday–Vazgen Sargsian affirmed that Armenia aspires to "good- neighborly relations with all neighboring states based on the principles of guaranteeing peaceful coexistence and the regional balance of forces."
Sargsian said some CIS states signed the CIS Collective Security Treaty solely in order to obtain the maximum possible share of former Soviet military hardware. He said he finds "incomprehensible" Russia’s complaints about NATO expansion eastward in the light of Moscow’s failure to promote the creation of a single CIS defense space.
