Ara Manoogian and his “white paper” would disagree with that assessment. Same with members of Policy Forum Armenia. They are now coming up with an “orange paper” to discuss the latest issues, and discuss his protest of the hilton hotel.
Russia’s $12 million is more than all the rest combined.
$3 million by the loudest and the biggest talking diaspora?
RIP Amerika-Hay community.
What a shame. I guess this is the price we pay for having community leaders and organizations that work for Washington. This is the price we pay for the constant doom&gloom reporting about Armenia…
Great! More power to them. And bravo to Armenians in Russia.
The Armenians of Russia donated more than half of the total sum collected, while the Armenians of the US donated a relatively paltry $3 million. That says a lot. After years and years of Armenian-American media and English-language media in particular running a doom-and-gloom campaign to blacken Armenia’s international image and Armenia’s image among the Armenian Diaspora in the West, it should not surprise anyone that the Armenian-American diaspora has abandoned Armenia.
If the logic of the Black PR campaign against Armenia was to somehow spur a regime change in Yerevan by taking away the backing of the Armenian Diaspora, that goal has failed entirely and will continue to yield zero results because the hard, objective truth is that the Republic of Armenia can survive perfectly well without the Armenian Diaspora. The true tragedy is that Black PR has managed to harm, probably irreversibly, the Diaspora itself and will contribute to and accelerate its inevitable assimilation into oblivion.
The ARF media organs including Asbarez and the Armenian Weekly, the CIA-affiliated Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty “Azatutyun” service, the American government funded ArmeniaNow, and several Armenian-Americans who conduct an anti-Armenian campaign such as Ara Manoogian, Nanor Barsoumian, garo ghazarian, and the ANCA’s own seto boyadjian are primarily responsible for this.
