YEREVAN (ArmRadio)—Armenia will exchange prisoners of war with Azerbaijan in the coming days as part of a POW swap agreement reached late last month during talks in Moscow on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, Armenian Public Radio reported.
The Armenian Defense Ministry Wednesday said the exchange would be the first handover since the agreement was reached in the Russian city of Astrakhan on October 27.
The POW, whose name has been kept secret, will be exchanged is an Azeri citizen who illegally crossed the Armenian border earlier this year. According to the Defense Ministry, he will be returned to the Azerbaijani side in at a section of the Armenian-Azeri line-of-contact at the Ijevan-Gazakh checkpoint.
The Defense Ministry released the names of three POWs, however, who remain in custody in Armenia. Junior Sergeant Roman Huseynov was captured earlier this year after illegally crossing the line-of-contact
