YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–Armenian Airlines launched its inaugural flight from Yerevan to Delhi on June 26. A delegation consisting of representatives of the Department of Civil Aviation–Armenian Airlines–the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and journalists was on board the plane.
The main goal of this flight route is not only to carry passengers but also to establish transit communication through Armenia which is at a crossroads of international travel routes– he said.
Most of the 57 passengers were Indian students studying at Yerevan universities and going home for summer holidays. Six passengers were transit travelers.
According to India’s Ambassador to Armenia–Vidya Bhuvshan Soni–who was also on board the plane–the launching of the new flight will create possibilities for developing trade–economic and cultural ties between the two countries.
After a five hour flight–the Armenian delegation received a warm reception at the airport.
