
GLENDALE–In one of his fist public appearances outside of Armenia’since being nominated as the Armenian Revolutionary Federation’s presidential candidate, Bureau member and Vice-Speaker of the National Assembly Vahan Hovannesian will keynote the ARF Day Celebration in Los Angeles on December 15, announced the ARF Western US Central Committee Tuesday.
The event will take place at 6 p.m. on Saturday Dec. 15 at the Glendale High School Auditorium. The public is encouraged to attend this event.
The ARF’s Armenia organization Friday held a special convention, during which Hovanessian was nominated as the party’s candidate for the upcoming presidential elections set for February 19.
In a secret ballot vote, Hovannesian received 60 votes, and Armen Rustamian received 16 votes.
In his acceptance speech Hovanessian raised problems existing in the system, but said solutions must not be expected from the former authorities that have been showing signs of activity lately.
Hovannesian submitted his registration application Tuesday to the Central Electoral Commission offices in Yerevan, making his candidacy on behalf of the ARF official.
