BURBANK—Author Maria Armoudian visited ACF Burbank Youth Center on July 26 to discuss her new book, Kill the Messenger, The Media’s Role in the Fate of the World.
The event was sponsored by Armenian National Committee of America – Burbank (ANCA-B) and Sardarabad Bookstore, with KPFK 90.7 FM as the media sponsor.

During the event, Armoudian discussed the horrific consequences when unethical journalism is allowed to proliferate, as well as instances where media has protected human rights and helped bridge the divide among warring factions. Armoudian fielded several questions from the attendees and emphasized the importance of dialogue among divergent factions and the relevance of facts.
“The event was a great opportunity for our community to hear Maria discuss her most recent book and its timely topics,” said Annette Kargodorian, ANCA-B Secretary and Community Relations Committee Chair. “ANCA-B is continuously seeking to educate and inform our community and we were excited to have partnered with organizations such as our media sponsor, KPFK 90.7 FM, to expand that platform.”
ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Maria Armoudian is a syndicated journalist, who has written for publications such as Salon.com, Alternet, Los Angeles Daily News, Daily Variety, Billboard, The Progressive, and Business Week. She is a fellow at the University of Southern California’s Center for International Studies and a Doctoral candidate at USC. Ms. Armoudian produces and hosts the Pacifica Radio programs The Scholars’ Circle and The Insighters, heard on KPFK 90.7 FM. She is also serves on the board of the Los Angeles League of Conservation Voters and is a singer/songwriter.
