STEPANAKERT–A delegation headed by the newly-elected chairwoman of the Armenian Relief Society Central Executive Vicky Marashlian met Monday with Nagorno-Karabakh Republic President Bako Sahakian
Current and future projects in Karabakh were discussed during the meeting, with the ARS delegation pledging to expand the scope of the organization’s activities in Karabakh.
Sahakian welcomed the ARS’ commitment to Karabakh and underscored the need to further expand relations with the government and its corresponding bodies, in order to ensure the success and enhancement of the organization’s activities in the region.
Also attending the gathering was Armenian Revolutionary Federation Artsakh Central Committee chairman Davit Ishkhanyan.
The ARS 69th International General Assembly concluded its activities late last week.
The convention discussed the ARS’ activities around the world, including relief and community-building efforts in Armenia, Karabakh and Javakhk. Among the decisions was the continuation of the neo-natal center in Akhourian, the ARS Artsakh Sosse Kindergarten program as well as the ARS Orphan Fund.
The convention also addressed the organization’s 100th anniversary in 2010 and decided that alongside activities marking the centennial, the organization must accelerate its fund-raising activities on the occasion of its anniversary.
In conclusion the convention elected a new Central Executive as follows:
