MONTEBELLO, Calif.—On Sept. 16, the Montebello Planning Commission voted in Ashod Mooradian as its new Chairman. His term as Chairman comes two years after his initial appointment as a member by Councilman Jack Hadjinian to the Planning Commission in early 2012. He previously served on the City of Montebello’s Traffic and Safety Commission for over two years.
A father of three, married to his wife Sona — with whom he will soon celebrate their 16th wedding anniversary in November — Mooradian was born and raised in Montebello. Mooradian graduated from Mesrobian School, then later attended USC and received a BS in Business Administration. He obtained a law degree from Southwestern University School of Law.
Ashod Mooradian became licensed in California as an attorney in 1998 and worked first as the Executive Director of the Figueroa Corridor Partnership, a non-profit business improvement district in downtown LA in partnership with the LA city community development department. Then, he worked as a solo practitioner in Montebello for 10 years. Ashod is currently employed with the State Bar of California since 2007. His present title is Senior Trial Counsel where he is responsible for investigating violations of the rules and laws of lawyer ethics and enforcing those rules and laws in State Bar Court trials to obtain decisions imposing discipline on California Attorneys who have violated.
