Cites strong record on Armenian issues as deciding factor
BURBANK, Calif.–Assistant Majority Leader Paul Krekorian (D-Burbank) has endorsed Paul Koretz in his bid to represent Los Angeles City Council’s Fifth District.
“Paul [Koretz] has been a true supporter and friend of the Armenian community since his days as a West Hollywood Councilman and member of the State Assembly,” Assemblyman Krekorian said.
“He has stood for truth and justice in recognizing the Armenian Genocide and has always fought for the interests of our community. I am confident Paul is the best man for the job and will do wonderful things for the city of Los Angeles.”
As a councilman in West Hollywood, Koretz called on his city to fly flags at half-staff during the annual Armenian Genocide commemoration, continuing the practice well into his days as a member of the State Assembly. In the Assembly, Koretz consistently supported the genocide remembrance resolution and was a principle author of a Sudanese genocide divestment act.
Assemblymember Paul Krekorian represents the cities of Burbank and Glendale, and the Los Angeles communities of Atwater Village, Los Feliz, North Hollywood, Silver Lake, Toluca Lake, Valley Glen, Valley Village and Van Nuys.
