WRIGHTWOOD, Calif.,—The Armenian Youth Federation Juniors will host its annual AYF Juniors Winter Getaway at AYF Camp over the course of two weekends again this year.
Previously, the Winter Getaway would typically be held on a single weekend for all members of the AYF Juniors. Last year, to avoid reaching campground capacity and limiting the number of participants, the AYF Juniors Central Council organized the camp over two weekends – each for specific age groups.
This year, the first session will be held from January 17 to 20 for AYF Juniors between the ages of 13 and 16, while the second session will take place from February 14 to 17 for 8 to 12-year-old members.
“We are ready to have two fun-filled, meaningful, and educational weekends with our Juniors,” said Sylva Khayalian, member of the AYF Juniors Central Council and lead organizer of the Annual Winter Getaway. “Each weekend’s activities are customized to cater to the specific age of the participants, ensuring a maximally fun and educational experience for each.”
Two directors will lead each session of the camp. The first weekend will be directed by Christina Mehranbod and Berj Parseghian, while Tamar Baboujian and Sako Aslanian will direct the second session. All directors are alumnus of the AYF and active members of our community.

“The Winter Getaway gives AYF Juniors members from across the Western United States the opportunity to bond with one another and form friendships that will last a lifetime,” said Saro Shirinian, Chairman of the AYF JCC.
“Each year, the Winter Getaway features an educational theme. This year, we aim to help our youth reconnect with their historic Armenian roots through a series of activities and educationals, which we feel will provide great insight into an important aspect of their Armenian Identity,” said Shirinian. “It would not be camp without the trademark games from AYF Summer Camp’s program, so campers can also expect fun activities like steal the bacon, butt volleyball, and a few new twists.”
Parents interested in registering their children in either session of the AYF Juniors Winter Getaway are urged to log on now as space is limited.
