TEHRAN (Alik)–At the 11 National Representative Assembly of the Tehran Prelacy Tuesday–Bishop Sebouh Sarkissian was elected the Prelate of Tehran. He replaces long-time prelate the late Archbishop Artak Manoukian who passed away last fall. Sarkissian was the locum tenens.
As is customary–His Holiness Aram I–Catholicos of the Holy See of Cilcia had submitted a three-person list of candidates to the NRA for consideration prior to the election of a prelate.
The meeting discussed the Catholicos’ list and took into consideration Bishop Sarkissian’s performance as locum tenens during the past six months and the positive influence he has had for the Armenian community of Tehran.
The NRA unanimously voted to elect Sarkissian. At the conclusion of the meeting–the newly-elected Prelate thanked the NRA representatives and pledged to do his best to ensure the enhancement of the Tehran Prelacy.
