YEREVAN (Yerkir)–An Armenian Revolutionary Federation (ARF) organized conference titled "Constitutional Amendmen’s: National Solidarity," was held Wednesday in Armenian Parliament. Aside from Members of Parliament–there were professors–community members–and the media present at the meeting.
Opening the conference–ARF Armenia Supreme Body representative Armen Rustamian stressed the importance of national solidarity in allowing for a fair evaluation of the referendum. He also said that regardless of the outcome of the vote–it will hold important consequences for the country.
Rustamian also noted the increase in popular support for the amendmen’s as coalition members hold meetings with the public.
ARF Bureau representative Hrant Margarian said that discontent with the government should not be associated with the referendum. He noted that if passed–the amendmen’s would enable the people to exercise more control over the authorities–something today’s constitution does not allow. He also discussed the benefits of removing the ban on dual citizenship.
