BY ARAM SUREN HAMPARIAN
When Ankara or its allies say there can be no present-day consequences for the Armenian Genocide, they are, very simply, trying to trick you.
There are consequences.
Have been for nearly a century.
Massive, brutal, cruel consequences: demographic, geographic, economic, agricultural, commercial, cultural, spiritual, moral and material. Consequences that have all fallen upon the shoulders of one side – the victims.
Challenges to our very identity and viability.
Wounds so deep, that if not healed, may yet prove fatal.
When Ankara and its agents says there can be no consequences, they are really just using an innocent-sounding phrase to defend the Turkish state and society’s claim to continue reaping the many rich fruits of its crime, while condemning the Armenian nation to continue bearing the full human and national burdens of its near destruction and ongoing exile.
Don’t be fooled. Turkey’s denials – however artfully framed – are an obstruction of both truth and justice.
Fight the lies.
Work for justice.
Advance the Armenian Cause.
