STEPANAKERT (Noyan Tapan)–"Nagorno Karabakh can attain its goal only through consolidation of all Armenia’s in the world–and in that context the strengthening of ties between the diaspora and its historic homeland in the name of resolving national problems is rather important," Acting President Leonard Petrossian said on Monday–meeting with a large delegation of Armenian businesspersons from Iran and Australia led by the Chairman of the Armenian Industrialists Union of Iran–Hakob Bagoumian.
Petrossian presented the internal political situation in the Republic of Nagorno-Karabakh–the present stage of the negotiating process on the conflict within the framework of the OSCE Minsk group.
During the talks the sides addressed a wide range of problems related to the creation and operation of a legislation in Nagorno-Karabakh–enabling to develop market relations and free enterprise–as well as encouragement and protection of foreign investment.
Petrossian also talked about government measures to promote market relations and to liberalize the economy. He said the reforms were facing certain difficulties caused by the lack of foreign investment from international financial organizations.
Petrossian assured that the Karabakh government was in a position to guarantee normal conditions for economic activities to both local and foreign businesses.
The guests in their turn voiced willingness to invest in the Karabakh economy. They said their current visit was aimed at examining the economic situation in the Republic of Nagorno Karabakh and learning about investment opportunities.
