The documentary movie “We Drank the Same Water” (Nous avons bu le meme eau) (France, 2007, 72 min.)by French Director Serge Avedikian will screen on Sunday February 21, at 4 p.m. at the Ararat-Eskijian Museum in Mission Hill.
When Serge Avedikian was invited to a theater festival in Istanbul in 1987, he could not resist crossing the Sea of Marmara to go and seek the town his Armenian grandfather lived in. The day he spent in this town left him with haunting memories. Incomplete, half-stolen images remained, revealing the furtive traces of an Armenian community forced to leave in the 1920s.
Most of the film centers on Avedikian’s return to Soloz in 2006 and attempts to restore the dialogue between Armenians and Turks and enable people to turn their minds to the future without forgetting their past.
Serge Avedikian is born in Yerevan and is an actor and director. He has lived in France since 1971. He studied at the Dramatic Art Conservatory of Meodon, later worked with the Paris Conservatory students where he acted in many plays of classical and contem-porary repertoire. He has produced documentaries since 1976. He also has acted in many films since 1978. In 1988, he established his own film company.
The 2010 events are dedicated in honor of Mrs. Hasmik Mgrdichian.
The Ararat-Eskijian Museum was founded in 1993 by Armenian Genocide survivor, philanthropist, and art collector, Mr. Luther Eskijian, to preserve Armenian history and heritage for future generations. It is located on the grounds of the Ararat Home of Los Angeles at 15105 Mission Hills Road, Mission Hills, CA 91345.
