Renowned community member Zareh Zarkoun passed away on Saturday–January 3.
Born Levon Sarkis Ak-Khacherian in 1913–a native of Armenia–Zarkoun taught in Lebanon for more than 30 years. Throughout his life–he served as newspaper editor–writer–poet–interpreter and active member–leader–lecturer and fieldworker for the Armenian Revolutionary Federation. In the United States–he taught Armenian language–history and literature for 11 years–at Ferrahian Armenian School.
He is survived by his wife Knar Zarkoun.
