YEREVAN (Armenpress)—The head of the EU’s diplomatic mission in Armenia, Ambassador Traian Hristea, spoke to journalists on Tuesday in Yerevan during a press conference, in which he discussed Armenia’s relations with the European Union and the future of cooperation between the two entities.
Hristea said that the European Union is ready to continue relations with any of the Eastern Partnership countries if their governments ever become interested. At the moment, separate dialogues are held with six Eastern Partnership states, the details of which will be published in the future.
“It is for sure that the European Union will continue cooperating with the Eastern Partner states,” Hristea said. “Now discussions are held what concrete results can be expected from the Riga summit. The best scenario for the future is the realistic scenario – to understand what we are discussing and what is the legal framework for future cooperation.”
Armenia and the EU continued negotiations in 2014 to discuss what areas and format cooperation can be continued after the Vilnius Summit and the publication of the joint memorandum of Armenia and the EU.
Hristea said, “The program of cooperation with Armenia was reviewed and a new package has been introduced. The EU is ready to work in the direction of new legal documents with Armenia with respect to its new commitments.”
The continued rapprochement toward Armenia. Now as the Ruble is a rubble and the sick man of Eurasia is on its way out, Armenia has a chance to free itself from the bondage of slavery. Opportunities like this do not come often, but when they do they must be seized, otherwise we’re doomed to go down with Mother Russia and Father Putin’s megalomaniac ego.
