YEREVAN(YERKIR)–A bomb went off early Sunday at a first-aid post in the village of Damala–in the Aspindza region of Javakhk. The local hospital was entirely destroyed–but no one was injured.
Local police have launched a criminal investigation into the case–though there are no suspects yet. The residents of the village believe the blast is linked to the elections and was organized to influence voters. The post was recently repaired by Malkhas Sandorashvili–who is running for the Georgian parliament. He believes that the act was directed against him.
As a result of irregularities detected in the November elections of this region–a new vote has been scheduled for November 23 in three polling stations of the electoral district–including in Damala.
