French Govt. to Introduce Bill Criminalizing Genocide Denial

I’ll believe it when I see it. At this point in time it is blatantly obvious that these “pro-Armenian” bills only arise when they can be used as a political tool by the French to extract some selfish benefits for themselves. There was absolutely no excuse the previous introduction of this bill did not pass, the clown known as sarkozy who was occupying the French Presidency at the time made grandiose promises, took a trip to Armenia and had tons of undeserved praise heaped on him, and then returned to the cesspool which Paris has degenerated into over the past few decades and turned his back on the Genocide denial bill and let it expire on his desk.

It is important to understand the history of French “dealings” with Armenians to put these types of developments into context:

The French have a long-standing history of betraying Armenians: France and Britain rescued the ottoman turkish empire from being dismantled by Orthodox Christian Russian during the Crimean war in the 1850s (which single-handedly paved the way for the massacres of Armenians by the ottoman empire in 1894-1896, 1909 and 1915-1923). France basically gifted Cilicia to turkey in 1921 through the Treaty of ankara, which led to the final large-scale waves of massacres and deportations of Armenians from Western Armenian/Cilician lands. In 1939 once again France gifted the Hatay Province to turkey after ripping Hatay away from Syria, which not only strengthened turkey further but eliminated the last few remaining Armenian villages in Western Armenia/Cilicia. France never gave the Armenians much attention, until about the late 1970s and early 1980s when the threat of turkey influencing and overwhelming the European community emerged, and France realized that it could use the Armenians and the Armenian Genocide as a tool of pressure and trump card against turkey. With the collapse of the Soviet Union, the EU assigned France the task of spreading European influence within Armenia, while Britain and others concentrated on Azerbaijan and Georgia, with the ultimate goal being the expulsion of Russia from the South Caucasus. And thus today, from time to time, France gives the Armenians a little bit of attention in order to extract geopolitical benefits for itself.

We Armenians cannot afford to lose sight of the big picture: France is still an imperialistic warmongering nation which is tightly allied with turkey through nato. This is still the same old France, raping its former colonies such as Libya, Syria, the Ivory Coast and Mali. This is the same France which covertly funds, arms and trains the terrorists in Syria who have been bombing Armenian cultural centers, churches and residential areas and kidnapping and beheading Christians in general in Syria, and France has the audacity to call these terrorists “freedom fighters” or “activists”… For the safety and security of the Republic of Armenia as well as the targeted Armenian Diasporan communities all over the Middle East, we Armenians need to stop looking at the Europeans and Americans, and the French in particular with star-struck eyes and reevaluate them for what they really are: a dangerous and imperialistic threat to sovereignty and liberty around the world with national and geostrategic interests which are dangerously opposed to the interests and well being of the Republic of Armenia.

ps this does not imply that French culture is inherently bad, or that all Frenchmen are evil or that they hate Armenia/Armenians, it merely demonstrates that in politics there is not “like” and “hate”, only national interests. And France and Armenia for the most part have opposing national interests. For every “rescue at Musa Dagh” they have done, the French have sacrificed hundreds of thousands of Armenians on other occasions.
