YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–Direct talks between Azerbaijan and Nagorno Karabakh are needed to have any progress in the peace process of the Karabakh conflict–Arsen Gasparian–Armenian Foreign Ministry spokesman–said at a briefing Wednesday in Yerevan.
"We hope that co-chairmen of the Minsk conference and other members of the Minsk group will promote the beginning of Azerbaijan and Nagorno-Karabakh negotiations," he noted.
Gasparian also said that during the July 2 meeting between Foreign Minister Alexander Arzoumanian and Nagorno-Karabakh’s Permanent Representative to Armenia Naira Melkoumian–the two mainly conferred about problems relating to preparation for the negotiations and boosting cooperation between the Nagorno-Karabakh Mission in Armenia–as well as Armenian and Karabakh Foreign Ministries.
