YEREVAN (Azg /RL)–Head of the Armenpress state news agency Tigran Hakobian resigned Sunday.
The Ministry of Information has been replaced by a Department of Information and Publishing–the heads of which were resolute in changing the existing structures.
A few months ago the plans were to privatize Armenpress with–perhaps–a certain share and support of the government.
However–the agency was disbaned earlier this month–and it will be converted into a state joint stock company.
A corresponding commission will make changes in the structure and charter of the agency in two months.
Two days ago–head of the Department for Information and Publishing Garegin Chugasizian assigned his deputy Hrach Bayatian as the head of the disbanding committee.
No other details were provided.
