YEREVAN—At what was termed an “extraordinary” congress, the Heritage Party Sunday elected Armenia’s first foreign minister and party founder as its chairman, according to a press release issued by the party.
The 350 delegates unanimously adopted the convention’s declaration entitled “Heritage’s Frontline: A Resolution for Armenia and the Armenian People,” which outlines the party’s position on issues such as Armenia-Turkey relations, the Karabakh conflict resolution and the domestic situation in Armenia.
The congress elected a 11-member board, which elected Hovannisian as its chairman and former Armenian Revolutionary Federation member Rouben Hakopyan as its vice-chairman.
Last September, disagreements between former board majority and four other senior party members resulted in the latter being expelled from the party ranks in very public dispute.
Yes Raffi, you are right. Only recognition of the Armenian Genocide by Turkey and recognition of Artsakh by
Azerbaijan and return of all occupied territories by Azerbaijan to Artsakh and Armenia will solve the conlict in this region of the world. All other manuverings which will not address the real issues are bound to failure.
May your wisdom lead the Armenian people to a bright future. Congratulations.
