TEHRAN (Tehran Times)–The daily Hurriyet in a baseless report Tuesday January 2 claimed that Iran prevented Iranian Christians from holding celebrations to mark the New Year. This accusation was made despite the fact that President Mohammad Khatami has sent congratulatory messages around the world and to Iranian Christians on the occasion. Iranian TV also broadcast special programs on Christmas and New Year’s Eve with Iranian Armenia’s being interviewed at their homes and talking about special traditions and ceremonies held on the occasion.
