YEREVAN (Azg) — Head of the National Gas Company of Iran Reza Rostami Sani declared that Iran plans to export 4.5 billion cubic meters of natural gas in the year 2000 of which 1 billion cubic meters will go to Armenia–three to Turkey–and 0.5 to Nakhichevan.
Reuters reported that Iran does not export natural gas today–though possesses the second largest gas resources in the World–after Russia. Iranian Gas Company plans to increase production of gas to 41 billion cubic meters by the year 2005.
It is expected that the laying of pipe-lines to Turkey will start next month and be completed by the end of 1998.
