STEPANAKERT (Noyan Tapan)–Mountainous Karabagh Republic (MKR) Members of Parliament–led by speaker Ashot Ghulian–paid tribute Thursday to the first President of independent MKR’s Parliament–Artur Mkrtchian on what would have been his 47th birthday.
The ceremony was held at the Stepanakert Pantheon where Mkrtchian is buried. Honoring Mkrtchian were MKR Foreign Minister–Georgi Petrosian–other officials–community members–journalists–and friends and relatives of the deceased.
Artur Mkrtchian became the first Parliament president of the independent MKR on January 18–1992. He was killed on April 14 of the same year in mysterious circumstances.
