YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–The steering committee of the Karabakh Support Forum and the Council of Intelligentsia said in a statement released Tuesday that Levon Ter-Petrosyan’s "defeatist policies breaks up the national unit and jeopardizes the achievemen’s of the national liberation struggle of the Armenian people."
This situation may inspire our adversary to attempt to achieve illusive "victories." Ter-Petrosyan is opposing the political will of the Armenian people–which was displayed by public-political organizations of Armenia–Karabakh and the Diaspora–and broad public masses. As a result–he dispossessed himself of the right to speak on behalf of Armenia.
There is only one way out–says the statement–to consider as necessary the quick formation of new authorities in a democratic way–in order to ensure and strengthen the national security and normal development of the Armenian people.
The steering committee welcomes all those forces which proceed from the position to stand up for the national statehood and Karabakh’s full independence from Azerbaijan–thus promoting the just and peaceful solution to the problem."
