YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–The Department of Information and Press of Karabakh released a statement Wednesday addressing relations with Armenia–and detailing a recent visit by Karabakh officials to the country that included talks with opposition leaders regarding the overthrow of Levon Ter-Petrosyan.
The statement read–"In recent times a number of pro-governmental mass media outlets of Armenia took up the thankless business of strengthening relations between Armenia and Karabakh. In particular–the "Aravot" newspaper reported that a delegation from Karabakh led by Social Security Minister Serge Aroushanian and Minister of Culture Armen Sarkisian paid a visit to the Siunik region of Armenia–met with leaders of the local ARF–as well as administrative members of the region and on behalf of the Karabakh defense minister introduced a program for overthrowing Armenia’s Levon Ter-Petrosyan through the efforts of Karabakh and Armenia’s opposition.
"The visits to the Armenian regions bordering Artsakh were aimed at strengthening ties with Armenia–and deepening and extending the social-economic and cultural relations with border regions of Armenia. That is why the delegation was led by the social security and culture ministers. Naturally–the present political climate in Armenia relating to the Karabakh problem gave rise to the sides speaking of the vistas of the Karabakh settlement.
"In this light–positions of Karabakh’s and Armenia’s leaderships regarding the conflict settlement and differences between those positions were addressed. As for ARF member and Karabakh Minister of Culture–Armen Sarkisian–and his meetings with ARF members in Siunik–we also consider the meetings a normal and natural thing–because the ARF is not outlawed in Karabakh and nobody prohibits its activity or isolates it from other structures."
