STENAKAERT — On February 3, the Personal Representative of the OSCE Chairman-in-office, Ambassador Andrej Kasprzyk met with Karabakh President Bako Sahakian and Foreign Affairs Minister Karen Mirozyan. The meeting between President Sahakian and Ambassador Kasprzyk meeting addressed a number of issues related to the situation along the contact line between Nagorno Karabakh and Azerbaijan armed forces.
During Kasprzyk’s meeting with Mirzoyan, both sides exchanged opinions on a range of issues of mutual interest, in particular, the situation on the line of contact between the armed forces of Nagorno Karabakh and Azerbaijan. In addition, the monitoring conducted by the Office of the Personal Representative of the OSCE Chairman-in-Office was also discussed.
The importance of maintaining stability on the line of contact was emphasized by both parties.
Mirzoyan and Kaspyrzyk also touched upon a range of issues related to the activities and upcoming plans of the Office of the Personal Representative of the OSCE Chairman-in-Office.
On February 4, following the meetings Ambassador Kaspyrzyk had and in accordance with the arrangement reached with the authorities of Artsakh, the OSCE Mission decided that it will conduct a planned monitoring of the line of contact between the armed forces of Nagorno Karabakh and Azerbaijan in the south-east direction of Kuropatkino settlement of Artakh’s Martuni region.
From the positions of the Karabakh Defense Army, the monitoring will be conducted by Personal Representative of the OSCE Chairman-in-Office, Kasprzyk and his Field Assistants Yevgeny Sharov (Ukraine) and Khristo Khristov (Bulgaria), as well as by representative of the OSCE High-Level Planning Group (HLPG) Lieutenant Colonel Alexander Nepokritikh (Russia).
The Karabakh authorities have expressed their readiness to assist in conducting the monitoring and to ensure the security of the OSCE Mission members.
