Karas Wines are now available for in the United States, yet the technique behind the production of the award-winning wines are changing the course for vintners, the general grape industry, as well as the agricultural sector in Armenia.

Karas is a very good wine. I enjoyed it during my stay in Armenia. I think that it changed the wine culture in Armenia, along with the In Vino wine bar and club. Thanks to these two now there are many good wine producers in Armenia and many places to enjoy wine. As for Syrah, DNA profiling in 1999 found Syrah to be the offspring of two obscure grapes from southeastern France, Dureza and Mondeuse blanche. The cave, where the world’s ancient wine producing facility was discovered (6100 years old) is called Areni-1.
