DER ZOR–Syria–(Armenpress)–His Holiness Karekin II–Catholicos of All Armenia’s–and His Holiness Aram I–Catholicos of the Holy See of Cilicia made a pilgrimage to Der Zor on April 23-25. Karekin II is the first Catholicos of All Armenia’s–to make a pilgrimage to this holy place of the Armenian Genocide.
The Holy Martyrs Church was built in Der Zor–where thousands of Armenia’s were killed. The Divine Liturgy was performed by both heads leaders in the church in memory of the martyrs of the Armenian Genocide in 1915.
"Der Zor and the Monument of Tsitsernakaberd are bridged by this pilgrimage–the prayers of the Armenian people both in Armenia and in the Diaspora are joined," said Karekin II. Aram I noted that Armenia’s throughout the world must continue the struggle to have the Genocide recognized by Turkey.
