MOSCOW (Aztutyun.am)—The Russian Foreign Ministry praised on Thursday the latest high-level contacts between Armenia and Azerbaijan aimed at reviving the Nagorno-Karabakh peace process.
“We welcome the positive trends that are apparent,” said the ministry spokeswoman, Maria Zakharova. “It is now important to build on them and not to harm them with careless rhetoric which has unfortunately happened lately.”
“From our part, we will provide necessary support to these positive trends,” Zakharova told a news briefing in Moscow.
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev spoke with each other during a summit of the Commonwealth of Independent States held in Tajikistan on September 28. Pashinyan said afterwards that they agreed to stop ceasefire violations in the conflict zone which had intensified in recent weeks.
A top aide to Aliyev also gave a positive assessment of the conversation as well as a fresh meeting of the Armenian and Azerbaijani foreign ministers held in New York on September 26.
According to the U.S., Russian and French mediators co-chairing the OSCE Minsk Group, Foreign Ministers Zohrab Mnatsakanian and Elmar Mammadyarov “confirmed the importance of taking measures to intensify the negotiation process and to take additional steps to reduce tensions.”
“The Ministers agreed to meet again before the end of the year,” they said in a joint statement.
Pashinyan and Aliyev were first introduced to each other by Russian President Vladimir Putin when they attended in June the opening ceremony of the 2018 football World Cup hosted by Russia. They have held no formal negotiations yet.
In other news, Russia keeps delivering S-300 missile system to Azerbaijan on schedule.
Yet another example of the Puppet Master (Russia), playing its two Puppets against one another (Armenia and Azerbaijan). Wait a minute, what ever happened to that claimed “centuries old Russian-Armenian friendship”? Oh one “friend” is encouraging the other friend to kiss up to the terrorists who have been murdering Armenians for 30 years based on their pan-Turkic plans? Yep, sounds like a real “friend” and “ally”. Of course no one in the incompetent Armenian “government” has ever had the balls to call out its “friend”. Armenia does not have its own foreign policy for the interests of its own future, its “foreign policy” is there for the interests of Mother Russia, nothing else. That’s why this air-headed Russian kukla is parroting “instructions” for Pashinyan to follow. And that’s why Pashinyan is just another one in a long line of forced servants for Russian interests. Russia’s instructions for Armenia: you will sit down and negotiate with the terrorists living next to you, and eventually will need to come up with a solution that will make them happy, or else I will raise your gas prices and sell the terrorists living next to you even deadlier weapons. Move along, nothing new to see here, same old Russian program of the last 100 years.
Why should Azerbaijan suddenly be so nice after consistently demonstrating pro-war attitude and above all show of anti_Armenian sentiments by actions, rhetoric etc.? I wonder what has happened now suddenly.? Nothing, except, most probably, a new plot for a new fresh surprise invasion like the one on April couple of years ago. Unfortunately Asbarez doesn’t show any interest as usual in elaborating the political articles like this one, therefore every reader has to come up with his personal guesses. That is not a successful journalism, not a good practice, god forbid condemned to losing readers. Thanks though
Moscow should remove this anti-Armenian oil man to a new oilman, and stop playing a chess game with Armenia!
Its amazing that a despot human right violating thief dictator Turk gets a free pass from world leaders. OF course because of oil and money. While Armenia is glee because its gets a morsel of sudo praise for inching towards a truer democracy. TRUST NONE of these people. Only ourselves. Unity is the answer or your a traitor to the Armenian nation..Stealing from your Armenian neighbor or citizen is treasonous. I don’t care who you are or what country you live in. That is the very core lesson of the Armenian Genocide itself. Turks do not think in terms of friendship, compromise or reconciliation. They think in terms of opportunity, theft, oppression, and the correct timing for its implementation. Yes dialogue is good but Armenia needs to always be prepared for war. Prepare for the ability and probable eventual must need of complete destruction of anything Turkish. That is the true and only guarantee of peace. One Armenia, Artsakh and diaspora is the ONLY ANSWER.
