GLENDALE–The Stop the Protocols hunger strikers are approaching the 72nd hour of their strike. Spirits are high and the strikers are standing strong, but they need the support of the community.
Tonight at 7pm, the hunger strike will pay homage to those who fought and laid their lives down for the liberation of Artsakh. Unger Vahe Bozoian, the Chairmanof the Glendale “Aharonian” chapter of the ARF will speak, as well as a number of veterans of the Artsakh Liberation Struggle. A special patriotic song session will follow with renowned Armenian singer Nersig Ispirian.
All members of the community are highly urged to attend and stand in solidarity with the hunger strikers’ call for the Armenian government to stop the signing of these dangerous protocols.
These Protocols endanger the independence of Artsakh and allow Turkey to use its blockade as a bargaining chip for conceding the land liberated through the sacrifice of thousands of Armenian men and women. Come join the hunger strikers, veterans of the Artsakh war, and community members in front of the Armenian Consulate for a special program dedicated to the freedom fighters of Artsakh.
The Armenian Consulate of Los Angeles is located at 1000 N. Central Ave, Glendale, CA 91202, on the corner of Glenoaks and Central.

I’m long time visitor of Asbarez website in search of latest news surrounding Armenia and Armenians. In fact, that’s become an obsession since I don’t have access to Armenian TV channel in our area. Asbarez is and a couple of other Armenian news sites have fed my hunger for getting the latest news, new developments and social-political life of Armenians in Armenia and around the world. I, too, have a hard-line stance regarding Turkey’s genocidal past and the current denial. I strongly believe Armenians should not and must not concede to Turkey’s preconditions or the wish of Azerbaijan for that matter. However, I’m troubled to see Armenians so divided since the announcement of the road map between Armenia and Turkey. Turks are not only achieving their line time goals of recognizing the current boarders and questioning the veracity of the Armenian Genocide, but also creating animosity amongst various Armenian groups and organizations in Armenia and Diaspora. It’s heart breaking to see these organizations whom I admired most of my life are falling into the Turkish trap and reacting to these protocols exactly in the manner they wanted. Dividing the Armenian community and advancing their goals are a Turkish plot that is going undetected. In fact, we help their cause by dividing our communities even further by sharp criticisms and lies and propaganda. I don’t want to predict the future but I can only hope that Armenians in Armenia and Diaspora will come to their sense and end this animosity.
