YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–There have been no shifts in relations between Armenia and Turkey and they can hardly be expected in the near future–Armenian Foreign Minister Vardan Oskanian told reporters on October 8. He reminded those present at the press conference that despite the presence of a mutual wish to settle bilateral relations–Turkey continues to link normalization of relations with a shift in the Karabakh settlement–especially with the return of territories or resumption of this process. At the same time the minister said that the international community–including the European Union–the US–and a number of other countries–acknowledging that these two problems should not be interrelated–deem that Turkey’s positive involvement in the problems of the Caucasus and the Karabakh problem may bring more positive results.
