YEREVAN–President Serzh Sarkisian announced on Sunday his decision to appoint the parliament speaker Hovik Abrahamian as Armenia’s new prime minister, reported RFE/Rl.
The announcement followed an extraordinary meeting of the governing body of the ruling Republican Party of Armenia the third such encounter held since the unexpected resignation on April 3 of Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan.
Under the Armenian constitution, Abrahamian has three weeks to form his cabinet and seek a vote of confidence from the National Assembly controlled by the HHK.
Speaking to reporters, Republican Party of Armenia spokesman Eduard Sharmazanov said that the party leadership did not discuss the composition of the new government. He said Republican Party will be free to pick ministers from among not only it sporty ranks but also non-partisan professionals.
Now that we have the “mouse” lets see who and witch political party’s are going to be in the roll of cheese in the new cabinet 😀
I’m not really happy with this appointment… I was hoping someone like Karen Karapetian would take over the post. Let’s hope he doesn’t become president.
As expected the same old faces, failed politicians with a new round of dirty games and well known job rotation within a certain group of people. These people cannot even imagine leaving the state institutions – They, there family and there business wont service without government job! H.A knows better than everybody else how o manipulate election abuse the trust of people and become the next president !
Mickey Mouse build happy Disneyland
Armenia is a corrupt country, governed by oligarchs!
Oh really? And which country fits your definition of a clean, democratic government country…stop your baseless double standard trash talk.
The world is governed by oligarchs
I agree!
Wrong choice thats all i can say
“In 2010 Russian-language “Vek” journal in its “Armenia’s Thieves – 2” series mentioned that Abrahamyan (whom detractors have nicknamed “Mouse”) owns more than two dozen companies – three sand mines on Araks river, 1,500 hectares of grape fields in Artashat, more than 10 gas stations outside Yerevan, one third of “Araratcement” stocks, casinos, petrol stations, and a $7 million summer home in Crimea.”
Things got from bad to worse. No surprises here, this guy is even worse than Serj.
It’s a shame because this is the face of the very scum ridding this nation of all of its potential and promise. Instead of locking these thieves up, they get promoted and are given higher positions in the government. Then we scratch our heads and wonder why our situation is so dire and ridiculous, and why 60,000 people a year are leaving Armenia.
It is a shame really like you said. I’m tired of those corrupt oligarchs sucking Armenia’s soul for their own interest. But what can we do?
Vai mez!
Another disastrous choice for Armenia!
Having posts in the government is the only way these thieves can make a living; they have no real value as individuals, intellectuals, public servants, or human beings for that matter. Their purpose is to steal and cheat the people out of the state’s resources, and funnel the money into their own pockets. They want as many people to leave Armenia as possible so their power remains unchecked and unchallenged. These people not only do not represent the best interests of Armenia as a nation, but strictly their own.
It is naive to expect these people to abandon their treasonous lifestyles not only because they depend on it, but because all of these oligarchs have very large families to which they marry each others’ children into because they have already mapped out a way for their equally poisonous offspring to inherit the country and its resources. Make no mistake, these people would destroy Armenia quicker than any Turk or Azeri could and will help erase an entire nation by systematically and often times verbally encouraging outward migration. These people will never leave, they must be shown the way out.
Hey I guess every country needs a Bush!
