Fundraiser at Zov’s Bistro Tustin to highlight the problem of abuse against women
SEAL BEACH, Calif.–Paros “Lighthouse” Charitable Foundation USA invites the entire Armenian community of Southern California to “Sunday Afternoon in Springtime” on March 11 from 3 to 6 p.m. at Zov’s Bistro Tustin. Guests will enjoy luscious foods and great wines, and help support Paros “Lighthouse” Foundation’s unprecedented work assisting victims of domestic violence with safe shelter and professional supportive services in Armenia. Renowned attorney Mark Geragos, Esq. will be the honorary guest speaker. Tickets are $50 per person. One hundred percent of the proceeds will go to the Foundation, thanks to Zov’s Bistro, which is generously underwriting the cost of the event.
Paros “Lighthouse” Foundation is the torchbearer in the fight against domestic violence in Armenia. Last year, it opened a 13,000 sq. ft. shelter/women’s center in the village of Ptghounk. Fifteen, fully appointed rooms safely house and feed neglected mothers with their babies as well as pregnant women. For women in immediate danger, it has established an emergency hotline number, “20-80”, which can be called from anywhere in Armenia, is free of charge for the caller, and connects directly to the Foundation’s office.
Other important foundation programs include vocational training, psychological counseling and therapy, sewing and cooking classes, women’s health services with an on-site OBGYN physician, dental health services with an on-site dentist, feeding the poor and elderly, supporting a local kindergarten, weekly Bible study, and donations of essential goods to the needy in Armenia and Artsakh.
Zuhrab and Seta Ghazarian have been providing assistance to the poorest of the poor in Armenia since 2000. The idea of Paros (meaning “lighthouse” in Armenian) was established by friends and supporters of the Ghazarian family, and grew out of their concern for Armenian women and children as well as the integrity of the Armenian family. I have personally visited the Paros foundation on the road to Etchmiadzine, just outside Yerevan and am writing this to encourage everyone who can support them to do so.
Seta Ghazarian is a golden heart and she checks over the transparency and effectiveness of her operation in a way I wish all Armenian organizations will try and emulate.
I hope that one day, she will register a charity in Canada, so that Canadians can also support her with tax-deductible donations. In Ontario, Canada, the marginal tax saving for an average donor is 45%. That means if you donate $1000, you get $450 back from our revenue agency.

We have now 10 women and 13 children living in the shelter.The phone doesn’t stop ringing .It is sad that Armenian women have to go through these hardships.
We need Organizations in Armenia to support the cause and help us achieve our utmost.
