YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–Six parties in Armenia–including the Armenian Democratic League of Armenia (Ramkavar-Azatakan)–the Constitutional Rights Union–the Scientific-Industrial and Civil Union–the Democratic Party of Armenia–the Union of Socialist Forces and the Intellectual Union–issued a joint statement July 22 announcing the establishment of an Interparty Social and Economic Council.
At a press conference Wednesday–SICU Board Chairman Alexander Aghamalian said that the establishment of the Council was the result of the parties’ desire to continue developing programs in the social and economic spheres–which they had carried out within the Commission for Social and Economic Affairs of the Presidential Political Council.
That council was dissolved earlier.
