ANKARA (Xinhua)–Turkish Foreign Ministry spokesman Burak Ozugergin said on Wednesday that Turkey and Armenia are continuing their negotiations at various levels in a bid to improve bilateral ties.
“We are discussing all issues with Armenia, and the principles we set are quite important,” said Ozugergin at a press conference in the Turkish capital of Ankara.
He said that there was also an ongoing process between Azerbaijan and Armenia over the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and that both processes were affecting each other.
Turkey has sought to connect the two issues by conditioning the normalization of its relations with Armenia on a resolution to the Karabakh conflict favoring its ally Azerbaijan.
But the OSCE Minsk Group, which has been mediating the Karabakh conflict since the early 90s, has said those two processes are parallel but separate and has warned Turkey that any linkage between the two could jeopardize both processes.
Ozugergin said Turkey was supporting the Minsk Group’s efforts to resolve the Nagorno- Karabakh conflict through peaceful means, adding that a positive course of the process would contribute to the peace and stability of the Caucasus. “Settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict will restore stability in the region, and make it sustainable,” Ozugergin said.
He said Turkey would support any positive development or step in the Minsk process.
He also said that Turkey’s Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu may meet with his Armenian counterpart Eduard Nalbandyan, on the Greek island of Corfu during an informal meeting of the OSCE this weekend.
The Nagorno-Karabakh Issue for turkey is another vehicle to perpetrate their lies and false olive branch. When did you know that a turk ever told the truth,NEVER. So why be naive enough to believe that they will change. They have no business interfering in this issue anyway. They have enough problems in their own country i.e. 70& illiteracy rate, corrupt goverment, majority of their own people living in abject poverty, and too dumb to know the difference.
