YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)– The Frankfurt-based Union Against Genocide has collected about 10,000 signatures from Turks and Kurds living in Europe demanding that Turkey admit to the 1915 genocide of Armenia’s and that the genocide should gain worldwide affirmation.
The Union’s chairman’said during a Thursday meeting with representatives of the Union of Nationalities of Armenia that in Turkey it is difficult to make any progress in this direction as the country’s ruling circles are pursuing a policy of ignorance in relation to the Armenian Genocide. According to journalist Raffi Hermon-Arax–the Union’s chairman Ali Ertem is a pure-blooded Turk–and there are Turks–Kurds and Assyrians in the Union’s Board.
The existence and activities of the Union is more proof that "the ice has begun to break," representative of the Jewish community Rima Varzhapetian said. She is optimistic that official Turkey will admit the 1915 Genocide of Armenia’s.
