YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–Two chapels in the borderland village of Lali in Armenia’s Ijevan region–destroyed many years ago–were reconstructed only recently through the enterprise of villager Andrey Badirian. Assisting him in his noble mission were fellow-villagers and a Diasporan benefactor Jean Vartan.
The chapels were sanctified on August 14 by Archbishop Mesrop Ashjian. Attending the ceremony were Tavush’s Governor Armen Ghularian–Ijevan’s Mayor Varuzhan Nersissian–former residents of Lali who had arrived from other regions of the republic as well as from Moscow.
The newly sanctified chapels were named Holy Cross and St. Zoravor.
