YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–The American Red Cross is going to implement a new construction project in the 1988 earthquake area jointly with the Red Cross of Armenia.
The project was reported to have been discussed during a meeting between the delegation of the American Red Cross and Prime Minister Robert Kocharian.
According to the Director of the Department for International Aid and Development of the American Red Cross–Gerald Jones–the specialty of the given project is that residents themselves will be participating in housing construction. The project will be sponsored by the Lincy Foundation.
Jones said their experts had already started learning the banking and tax systems of Armenia.
According to Kocharian–the government is ready to assist in the implementation of the project.
