BAKU (Armenpress)–The Chairman of the US Senate’s Intelligence Committee–Richard Shelby (AL-R)–who is currently visiting Baku–was quoted saying that both the new US administration and Congress understand that adopting Section 907 of the US Freedom Support Act banning US government aid to the Azerbaijani government was a wrong step.
"We know that Section 907 hinders US government aid to Azerbaijan and we regret this," he said during a meeting with President Aliev. Shelby said that US Congressmen and the Bush Administration would do their best to lift the unfair ban.
