USC Friends Of Armenian Music Feature Pianist Armen Guzelimian

GLENDALE—On a beautiful sunny  Sunday afternoon of April 14, the Board of Directors of the USC Friends of Armenian Music held a reception featuring noted pianist Armen Guzelimian.

The perfect setting for this extraordinary talented artist was the home of Hovsep and Hilda Fidanian in the hills of Glendale, California.   Sometimes known as the Fidanian Art Gallery,  approximately 75 guests were not only enthralled to hear  the wonderful artistry and  excellent musicianship of  Armen Guzelimian, they enjoyed the tremendous display of art work and antiques from all over the world magnificently displayed on every inch of wall space in the Fidanian home.

Armen Guzelimian has earned national and international critical acclaim as a first-rate soloist, chamber musician and collaborative partner.  Guzelimian held everyone’s rapt attention as he played selections from such great composers as  Allen Hovhannes, Aram Khachaturian and Hayden, conveying a wide range of emotions and styles of music.

Guests not only had the privilege of enjoying the brilliant piano performance of  Armen Guzelimian, but had the opportunity to meet and visit with one of the most ardent supporters of USC Friends of Armenian  Music and the USC Thornton School of Music.  Guzelimian has often been invited to adjudicate on the panel of various national competitions and to give Master Classes.  He has been on the faculties of the USC Thornton School of Music, Music Academy of the West, Guest lecturer at Eastman School of Music, Loyola University, University of Maryland College Park, Aspen Festival and School.

To top off a perfect afternoon, guests enjoyed a full buffet of a variety of both Armenian and American foods prepared by the Board of Directors and members of the USC Friends of Armenian Music.  Although the event was complimentary, guests generously donated to the USC Friends of Music Scholarship Endowment Fund, which provides scholarship to Armenian students attending the USC Thornton School of Music.
