ISTANBUL (Marmara)–On July 30 the Turkish newspaper "Sabah" reported that several unidentified persons jumped the ten meter fence of the Greek Cemetery in Kourtouloush and totally demolished 23 graves and caused harm to another 7 graves.
The security guard of the cemetery claimed that he did not hear or see anything because the vandalism took place at the furthest end of the cemetery.
The police has started to investigate this criminal act–which had disturbed the Christian residents of the region especially because the attack came when relations between Turkey and Greece had started to improve.
A staff writer of the same reporter had written an article about this incident in which he states the attack was committed by a couple of irresponsible and thoughtless persons. He also made a call out to the Minister of Internal Affairs to arrest and punish the culprits of this act as soon as possible.
