Last weekend I saw the movie, Lincoln. It was very moving.
It wasn’t too far into the movie before the question “Who will be our Lincoln?” rooted itself deeply in my brain.
Who will be our compassionate yet firm leader?
Who will be the one to make the tough decisions yet be able to evoke comfort from all our compatriots with pithy stories that elicit a laugh?
It’s not just about being the uniting Lincoln WITHIN the Republic of Armenia.
It’s not just about being the one who brings together the people of the RoA with those living in Artsakh and Javakhk.
It’s not just about recovering Nakhichevan and other Armenian lands occupied by Azerbaijan.
It’s not just about securing from Turkey the return of the western part of the Armenian Plateau.
It’s not just about creating deep connections between and among all parts of the Diaspora, new and old, with the entirety of our homeland.
It’s not even just about finding a way to “repatriate” the Islamicized or hidden Armenians still hiding in plain sight in Turkey.
It’s about doing all of these and creating an integral whole out of our scattered nation and dispossessed lands.
Who will be our Lincoln?
I totally agree with all your points.
The only thing I don’t agree with is the fact that the desired leader should inherit the values Lincoln.
We have figures the mach Lincoln, or even exceed him.

Monte Melkonian.
Karekin Njdeh
Kristapor Mikaelian.
