LOS ANGELES—The red carpet rolls out in Rancho Mirage, California, on Saturday, May 10, and Sunday, May 11, for the World Armenian Entertainment Awards at The Show, Agua Caliente Casino Resort Spa. Superstars like Julio Iglesias, Liza Minnelli, Dolly Parton, Brian McKnight, Paul Anka and Ringo Starr have headlined at the award-winning concert theatre.
Organized by the Global Arts International and USArmenia TV and Agua Caliente Casino Resort Spa, the “The World Armenian Entertainment Awards will be unique and the first of its kind,” says Executive Producer Garbis Titizian, Founder of Global Arts International. Titizian is known for his motion picture, television and theatrical producing credits as well as organizing and promoting sold-out concerts by Armenian stars and world-renowned acts like Julio Iglesias and Yanni.
The premise of the Awards is to encourage the preservation of Armenian culture and history. A variety of spectacular performances by superstars from around the world are planned as a way to bridge national and international gaps as well as generational tastes.
Celebrities, luminaries and icons that will appear and receive awards, include trailblazers from cinema, television, music, non-traditional media and fashion. Nominees include well-respected, renowned personalities, pop icons and legendary names from yesteryear.
Some of the participants at press time are Tata Simonyan, Sirusho, Arman Hovhannisyan, Lilit Hovhannisyan, Harout Pamboukjian, Armenchik, Andre, Razmik Amyan, Hrant Tokhatyan, Ashot Ghazaryan, Hayk Marutyan, Hovhannes Azoyan, Luiza Nersisyan, Erik, Sofi Mkheyan, Mihran Tsarukyan, Hrach Muradyan, Ani Christy, Arpine Gabrielyan, and Sibil.
“The artists who have already accepted our invitations to this landmark event are known not only within our communities but also around the world,” says Titizian. “Our mission is to connect these artists, including legendary and popular ones with a younger generation of Armenians, some who have lived away from their ancestral Homeland.”
The awards ceremony, to be held at the beautiful and scenic desert-resort city of Rancho Mirage, will be broadcast throughout Southern California and the US, and internationally in Armenia, Russia, Europe and South America, as well as online by USArmenia TV. An estimated five million viewers are expected to tune in via terrestrial, cable, satellite and online platforms.
