YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–Last month 629 of 7,000 refugees–residing in Tavoush–have denounced refugee status. Of that number 623 refugees will acquire Armenian citizenship–while six others emigrate to other countries for permanent residence.
Chief of the department of social security of the Tavoush regional administration Narine Chagarian noted that the increased number of refugees–willing to denounce their refugee status–is caused by their willingness to participate in local elections–as well as the information campaign launched by the social security department of the region.
Since June–814 refugees denounced refugee status in Tavoush region. Of that number 803 refugees acquired the Armenian citizenship.
